Patti's Parenting Primise numero dos - If you are not ready to devote yourself to raising children, please don't have any. Children are not window dressing for you, they are future citizens that will be unleashed upon the rest of us about the time they are taken for their first outing to the grocery store.

Some parents just need to be slapped hard.

women who have kids just because they want to been seen pregnant, want to buy a bunch of stuff, want a party where they get lots of stuff, think a baby will be like a toy they can dress up and play with, want to keep a guy who is straying, because they are checking off some sort of check list - have large wedding (center of attention), have fancy honeymoon (center of attention), have baby (center of attention) - drive me nuts!!!!!!!!

women who look at their daughters as a second chance at their own youth make me sick.

...which is why I never had any. I never grew up enough.

Of course, I married into a couple, but they were half grown; someone before me had already done the damage. ;)

I've known people who have kids so they could garner more attention and it just never works out well for anyone. :(

kids are great, but not for everyone. i'm just sick and tired of watching the mess that has been made and is being made through lack of parenting. something started happening about the time i was born and slowly crept along to this mess we have now. i am convinced that today's society is the mess it is due to lack of parenting - to quote gene "long time"

at least you were there pam to help mop up the mess, there are many many kids who need moms like you to clean up what their DNA moms did to them.

Agreed! The best parents I know contemplated for the longest time whether they should have kids. The fact they questioned their qualifications for parenthood pretty well affirmed the fact they're ready to be parents (in my eyes).
