I am in deep mourning. Not sure what Sarah has in mind, though I understand her frustration and disgust with fighting the endless accusations. Surely hope she is not going to drop out - We Need Her! Somewhat confused as to why she would let the bad guys run her out before she has finished her first full term, to some extent it feels like she has let them win. I hope she is up to something wonderful.

I've been thinking that, with the current parties being the root of our problem in DC, if Sarah were to throw her hat in with the Libertarians, and maybe get them to rein in some of their wackier positions, their party would probably explode in size and reach. And I'd be right there with her, probably even have a letter other than U next to my name in the voter registration logs for the first time in my voting life.

Perhaps that would be enough to break the strangle hold both Rs and Ds have on the condition of our lives. Maybe get us back on track. It will take something about that drastic to do it. Without a viable alternative, we'll never actually "kick the bums out". There is no way the legislative branch is going to vote term limits on themselves, they would never ever legislate themselves out of power and that is the only way to accomplish the deed. Article 3s (federal judges) have their "life" terms by way of the Constitution, the legislators didn't mind too much putting limits on the executive branch - but they will never ever do it to themselves. Therefore, we can kick and scream "throw them out" til we are blue in the face - it will only get worse without something cataclysmic (and I'm not talking revolution, just something like a massive move to a third party). Far too many in the country will say "clean house" "kick them all out"... but not my guy - he brings money to our district. Well, dumb asses, the only ones each of us have the power to kick out are the power grubbing guys who buy our votes by bringing money to our own districts!

I don't know, but I sure hope Sarah is up to something good cause right now I think she is the only star we'd trust to hitch our wagons to. And if it turns out there is some nasty scandalous behavior on her part, ack!

Your thoughts?

Oh yeah, and Happy Birthday to US.

I dearly hope she doesn't take up with a third party, only because they really don't account for much except as a divisive lever against Republicans.

Not that I call myself a Republican anymore. ;)

It's unfortunate that too many people -even those who like her politics- just don't like Sarah.

i'm thinking a bold strong move to a third party is going to be the only way to leverage the two parties we have - maybe a good threat would drive the Rs back to conservatism. if we keep on this way with the same two, nothing will ever change. we've changed party structure before. seriously i'd rather revolt that way than other options... and i have a notion that she might be just the person to lead such a move. but then again i am frustrated beyond reason.

I think there is no scandal. Well, except for the fifteen sprurious "ethic complaints" each having to be investigated and defended against. The scandal is the couple of million dollars Alaska spent and the half million dollars in Palin family debt these ethics complaints cost. The scandal is that Alaska Donks are still saying "but there are ethics questions."

We will see Governor Palin's future unfold after she finishes her book and goes on the lecture circuit and retires that half million dollar debt. She will start by assembling a fairly small staff. Then she will roam the country doing fund raising gigs for real conservatives for the 2010 elections.

Those fund raisers will serve as a very good barometer of her electoral viability. If she manages to bring in a lot of money for conservative candidates then even the Washington Republicans will have to notice.

i am truely hoping you are right. and i hope her indorsement will get those real conservatives elected!

First I think she left because what mother wouldn't do so to protect her children. The attackes on her kids were undefendable!

But what I really hope she does is lay politics open- slit it down the center and lay out the guts- and she can't do that when she's in the Republican party. The only way our party system will change is to destroy the two parties.

Love the idea of her being part of a 3rd party...I used to be Democrat until Clinton was re-elected, then I became Republican. Now I don't want to be either. Personally, I'd love to see an 'independent conservative' party.
