Charlie is sunk and he knows it. These desperate attempts to get back in the game are very telling, aren't they? He not only blinked, he's had the equivalent of political hysterics.
I think it speaks volumes to what his motivation is - power, he can't see himself not in power.
I am sick of his kind - I think he shows himself to be the quintessential lizard politician.
